Chill Travelers eat at Nordy&#8217;s in Loveland Colorado for a true BBQ experience.<\/p>\n<p>We were meeting with our bankers at an executive session in the bar of the Rib &amp; Chop in Cheyenne. \u00a0Our conversation gravitated to food. \u00a0More specifically, BBQ. \u00a0Now the pulled pork at Rib &amp; Chop is good, but it is not in the world-class category. \u00a0Carol offered that just down from Cheyenne was one of the best BBQ restaurants that she has ever been to. \u00a0The next day being &#8220;Faturday,&#8221; we decided to head down early before treking to Boulder for some designer shopping.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/?attachment_id=2847\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2847\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-2847\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1793-e1433096798751-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1793\" width=\"166\" height=\"221\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1793-e1433096798751-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1793-e1433096798751-113x150.jpg 113w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1793-e1433096798751-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a>Nordy&#8217;s is just off the freeway 25 in Loveland Colorado. \u00a0It is near the Budweiser Center and is a themed large restaurant where the dining room and bar areas are nearly the same size. \u00a0Old Colorado western memorabilia is displayed on the walls intermixed with NASCAR racing car hoods, motorcycle racing suits, racing trophies and other car enthusiast signs. \u00a0Again, this is a purpose built modern facility that resembles a chain restaurant, but it is not. \u00a0It is very modern with a very friendly staff.<\/p>\n<p>You guessed it, we walked in and sat in the bar at the bar. \u00a0Our bartender got each of us a beer that was handcrafted in Colorado. \u00a0She then grabbed a plate and set it in front of us. \u00a0She grabbed a squirt bottle marked Kansas BBQ sauce and wrote a &#8220;K&#8221; on the plate describing the taste profile as she wrote. \u00a0The next was a &#8220;T&#8221; for Texas, a &#8220;C&#8221; for Carolina, a &#8220;J&#8221; for Jalape\u00f1o and a &#8220;W&#8221; for a very hot BBQ version. \u00a0In front of us was the plate and our beers where we could taste the various sauces before our meals arrived.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/?attachment_id=2845\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2845\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-2845\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0441-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0441\" width=\"213\" height=\"160\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0441-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0441-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0441-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 213px) 100vw, 213px\" \/><\/a>So we ordered based on our BBQ experiences and preferences. Wendy ordered smoked turkey and BBQ chicken plate with a Mac&#8217;n cheese and green beans side. \u00a0Not to bad for a Faturday and pretty Paleo. \u00a0Bob ordered the smoked chopped pork and a smoked sausage with a pasta coleslaw and baked beans sides.<\/p>\n<p>The food arrived on a tray with a paper liner. \u00a0The meats were displayed on Texas toast and there were pickles and onions as add-ons. \u00a0The presentation was very complementary to the smell of smoked meats that match the smell outside the restaurant when we entered.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/?attachment_id=2846\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2846\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-2846\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1797-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1797\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1797-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1797-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1797-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>All of the food was very good and the portions were big, but not crazy big. \u00a0The turkey was flavorful, but a bit dry as was the chopped pork. \u00a0The sausage was world-class as was the chicken. \u00a0Normally, we do not get sides, but Carol raved about the pasta slaw and the baked beans, so we had to try them. \u00a0She was not kidding. \u00a0The pasta slaw was like a sweet Texas cole slaw with small macaroni added. \u00a0The baked beans were smoked with burnt ends and a sweet molasses sauce that also had bacon in it.<\/p>\n<p>To top it off, there was a sweet corn muffin that was off the chart naughty.<\/p>\n<p>Bob ended up eating everything and Wendy took home most of the half chicken they served. \u00a0None of the sides made it in the togo box.<\/p>\n<p>I cannot say we were disappointed with the dryness of the turkey and pork because we mostly see this level of smoking for these two meats. \u00a0Norway&#8217;s pales slightly in comparison to Jim &amp; Nick&#8217;s in Concord NC. \u00a0Their turkey and pork are unmatched anywhere to date. \u00a0Comparing the overall experience to other BBQ restaurants finds the&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Chill Travelers Rating:\u00a0[usr 8.7]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/r\/145\/1423885\/restaurant\/Northern-Colorado\/Nordys-BBQ-Grill-Loveland\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none; width: 200px; height: 146px;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.urbanspoon.com\/b\/link\/1423885\/biglink.gif\" alt=\"Nordy's BBQ &amp; Grill on Urbanspoon\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We left more than satisfied and headed to Boulder to the 29th Street shopping area. \u00a0Lucky Jeans for Wendy was on the agenda and Bob hung out at the Apple Store across the way.<\/p>\n<p>From there, we scooted back to Fort Collins for a Mary&#8217;s Mountain Cookie and a stop at New Belgium Brewery for a cold 1554.<\/p>\n<p>A full day both literally and figuratively.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow the loyalty card membership at Nordy&#8217;s fits!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/?attachment_id=2840\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2840\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-2840\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1798-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_1798\" width=\"472\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1798-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1798-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.chilltravelers.com\/chill\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1798-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nordysbbq.com\" target=\"_blank\">Click Here<\/a> for the link to Nordy&#8217;s Website<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>For BBQ in Colorado, Nordy&#8217;s is one of the best places when in Loveland Northern Colorado.
